Charleston/Folly Beach with the Grahams

What a trip! This past weekend Mike and I headed down to South Carolina to meet up with the Graham's. Friday we got there around 4pm and hung around until Chris, Mandy, and Camryn got there around 5:30pm. Our first agenda after all the hugs was to hit up a seafood restaurant. We stayed in Folly Beach, I recommend that to anyone. You can walk to anything you need so no need to have to get out in traffic or worry about parking, etc. We walked out and we decided on Crab Shack. It was EXCELLENT!! We sat outside and I had a huge bucket of crab legs and shrimp. Mike and Mandy enjoyed a small trio of Mahi-mahi, scallops, and shrimp. Chris had some BBQ chicken and shrimp while Camryn had a nice plate of corn dog with fries. After dinner we headed back to the room for a few minutes and then walked along the beach. It was so wonderful to see Camryn sample the sand between her toes. She also went out to the ocean. Camryn loves the water and she is definitely a daredevil. If mom and dad allowed her, she would go as far as she could out in the ocean. After our little walk we headed back to room for bedtime. I think we were all exhausted from our long trips in the car earlier in the day.

Saturday we all woke up early to have breakfast and then got ready for the beach. It was such a lovely day. I kept thinking about our soon to be little ones and what a wonder it will be to see our childern play in the sand and ocean. Chris and Camryn built sandcastles. Well more like Chris build the castle and Camryn knocked it down. So cute. Then she tried to build a castle on her own. She packed the bucket with sand and went to flip it just how dad did it. Well, she flipped it toward her. I wish I had a picture but she dumped it all on her face and sand went everywhere. PRICELESS!! After our beach morning we all went back to the room and got ready to head to Charleston for lunch and some shopping. We went to Wild Wing Cafe for lunch. It was a great sports bar downtown and right across the street from the City Market. After lunch we walked through the market. If you have never been to the City Market you couldn't imagine how big the place was. Once we finally made it through we decided to head back to the beach. We stopped by and enjoyed some milkshakes at Chick-fil-a on our way back. For dinner the boys walked to a local pizza place to pick up pizzas while us girls went to the beach to find seashells. After dinner was bedtime for Camryn while the rest of us decided to play cards. The game was Texas Hold-em. The boys talked a big talk but the first two out were of course Mike and Chris. It was a lot of fun!! Once cards were over the night ended.

Sunday was leaving day. We all packed up and headed out. We stopped at breakfast at McDonald's on our way out of town. For lunch Mike and I tried finding restaurants in Lumberton using the Garmen. Well...my Garmen hasn't been updated in years, so we ended up in Downtown Historic Lumberton where all the restaurants were out of business. Finally we found I-95 again and eventually we found Friendly's (which was very good). Once we got back and picked up Trapper we headed over to our neighbor's house (Chris and Ericka Beckler) for a Bon Voyage party. Sadly they are leaving for Shelby, NC. We had fun at their house, but we are hating that we are losing them.

Chris, Mandy, and Camryn we had such a blast and we miss you guys already. We need to get together more often!!

What a weekend!

This past weekend was truly wonderful! Sorry I'm just now getting around to writing about it. I was having a rough couple of pregnant days the last two days.

Friday at 1pm Trapper and I packed up the car and headed to Asheboro to see the rents. I got there around 4pm so I got a chance to relax until mom got off work, dad had a softball game. As soon as mom got home we had a brainstorming session on what to do for the nursery (unfortunately still not 100% on anything). Then we headed out for dinner. We went to one of my fave restaurants, Chili's. After that we went to Lowe's real fast to get a couple of things. (Mom and dad are going to be redoing one of their bathrooms, can't wait to see it finished. They are going to completely redo everything from sink, toilet, shower, and flooring.) After Lowe's and dinner mom and I headed to my aunt Sharon's house to help give ideas on how she can update parts of her house, for example touch up on paints, polish the cabinets, etc. While we were there I showed off my ever expanding waistline. Sharon couldn't believe how big I already am. Mom and I then headed to the house and I was ready to crash, so I headed on off to bed.

Saturday I woke up early to get ready for a girls day with Debbie (mother-in-law, Amy, April E., Lindsay (sister-in-laws) at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro. I left a little early so I could get to Old Navy first and then went to meet them at the hotel. We went to lunch at TGIFriday's. Then we headed back to the hotel for all of our appointments. Everyone but me had an appointment at 2pm so I went and hung out by the pool until my 3pm appointment. At 3 I received my first EVER massage. I got a prenatal massage from Elkie, she was a German masseuse. Sometimes she was very hard to understand, but overall it was a very nice experience. After my appointment I went with April and Lindsay to get ready for dinner. After all 5 of us were ready we headed to Outback for dinner. Then we went to Four Seasons to shop. After about an hour we were all so exhausted from the day we were ready to leave. When we got back to the hotel I headed back to Asheboro to Mom's. Mom and I ended up watching Unsolved Mysteries together. (Quick side note: Since becoming pregnant, whatever I watch before I go to bed, I end up putting myself there in my dreams. For example, a couple of weeks ago when there was an American ship captain held hostage on the news, that night I dreamed that I was in the Marines and I ended up saving him. ) So that night while trying to sleep I kept trying to solve the mysteries.

Sunday we all went to church. After church mom and I went to Babies R Us in Greensboro to see if we could finally settle on what to do for the nursery. I have to say Sunday I was EXTREMELY sore. I'm not sure if it was from my massage or if it was from walking up and down a flight of stairs 10 times while at the spa. My sore spots were my lower back, my legs, and my bum. After BRU we went to grab a milkshake and then went back to Asheboro. After I packed up the car I had to say my goodbyes. I headed back home to Roanoke Rapids. Once I got home, Mike had made me a steak, some corn, and even had a piece of frozen pie for dessert. It topped off a perfect weekend!

Watch out for the Cheerwine!

Today there was a crazy accident that happened to me, also known to my friends at Headway as an "April Moment". Somehow these crazy things only seem to happen to me, or at least I'm the only one that will admit to them.

This morning was a very productive morning. I was able to fix breakfast, wash dishes, wash laundry, and start cleaning the nursery. On my to do list was also to get groceries. I'm one of those that despise going to Wal-Mart unless I have to, but I had to get weed-be-gone and some scrapbook things, and if there was any other place in Roanoke Rapids I would go there instead, (i.e. Target), but we only have the one place. So I headed out to Wal-Mart. It was miserably packed since most people had Good Friday off, but I wasn't having that bad of an experience. I finally made it through and went to check out. My line wasn't too long, I even had a very nice cashier, but THEN it happened. There was a lady behind me that was placing her items on the little conveyor belt thing. She had at least 12 2 liter bottles of Cheerwine (all were standing upright). I just took out my credit card to pay for my groceries when the cashier started the belt to move the lady's items closer to her. Then in what seemed like slow motion, the lady's Cheerwines all started moving toward the cashier and they started to hit each other and rock. One started to fall, then two started to fall, and then three started to fall. They all fell and hit the floor and started to spew. I was then literally showered in Cheerwine. The one thing that irked me the most is that the lady who was responsible for placing all those soda's up on the conveyor belt upright didn't bother to apologize. Her shoes got wet and she started yelling at the cashier as if it was her fault. While they were calling for someone to come clean it up, I paid as fast as I could and tried to leave. So here I am in Capri pants, tank top, and sandals. My clothes and feet are soaked in Cheerwine, and trying to walk in sticky wet shoes is not easy. I got to my car still steaming and I called mom and just started laughing about the whole situation. Yes for those that I have worked with, this was truly an "April Moment".

Disney Trip Overview

Disney was AMAZING!! The only complaint is that the trip went by too fast.

Monday - woke up at 2am after having 2 hours of sleep. Got to the airport at 4am where we saw a "deer crossing" sign and laughed that they can only cross there. As soon as we said it there were three deer that crossed in front of it. By the time we had our layover in GA and got to FL and checked into the hotel we reached Epcot around 1:30pm. Some of favorites were Finding Nemo, Honey I shrunk the Audience, and touring the worlds. We stopped in Japan and had a wonderful lunch. Mike got a chance to have an Oktoberfest beer which he said was awesome. We went back to the hotel around 5pm where I took a very long nap. Then after waking up long enough to eat pizza from our hotel I went back to sleep. I was so exhausted after not having but those few hours of sleep.

Tuesday - We woke up around 6:30am to get ready, have breakfast, and head out to Animal Kingdom. I think this was one of my favorite parks. The first thing we did was went on an African Safari. I have several pictures of all the animals we got to see. We were so close that if I wanted I could have pet a rhino. These were all wild animals too, so it was really cool. Other things we enjoyed were The Lion King, Finding Nemo the musical, and A Bug's Life 3D. We had a wonderful lunch at a BBQ restaurant. We then went back to the hotel for a nap from 4-6 and then had dinner at our hotel. After dinner we went to Epcot for fireworks and light show.

Wednesday - Hollywood Studios was where enjoyed practically everything they had there (with exception to the two rides I couldn't ride.) Our favorites were Beauty and the Beast, American Idol, and the back lot tour. We had lunch at the park which was some burgers where we then splurged on ice cream for dessert. There was a parade at 3pm which we got to see all the Toy Story cast along with A Bug's Life and a few other characters. We left around 4pm to take a nap then we went to the Magic Kingdom for their night parade which was really cool. Everything was decorated in lights. After that was fireworks. Wednesday was the only day I got sick at a park, but I think it was because we waited really late for dinner, but after I ate I was completely fine.

Thursday - We headed out to Magic Kingdom for the day. We got there so early that we were able to enjoy several rides by 10 am. Our favorites were Monster's Inc Laugh Floor (this was my favorite of the week; it is an interactive cartoon, very cool), Philhar Magic, Haunted Mansion, and Pirates of the Caribbean. We had the best lunch at one of the restaurants where you got to put different toppings on your burgers, taco salads, or any other item you received. We also went to Mickey's Toon town where we saw two very cute stuffed animals for a baby. One was a Mickey and the other was a Minnie. They were very soft and even had a rattle in the butt. We decided that we would wait to get the animals on our way out at Main Street. Well when we were leaving we couldn't find them. So we decided to head to our hotel and get them there. We got back to the hotel, not there. After we napped we went to Downtown Disney where we had dinner at Capt'n Jacks, EXCELLENT!! We then went shopping at 3 different Disney stores looking for those stuffed animals. I almost made Mike go back to the part of Magic Kingdom where we saw them, but I wasn't feeling that well so went to the hotel.

Friday - was leaving day. This was the only bad weather day. It rained in the morning, but by the time our bus came to pick us up for the airport it was pretty. We got to the airport and went into the first Disney shop and the toys weren't there. We went to the 2nd shop and there they were! We had lunch at Macaroni Grill and then headed out on our flight. We had a layover in GA and got back to NC around 7pm.

Our trip was so great and we did so much I couldn't possibly write it all. I just hit on the few highlights. All our pictures are up top. It's funny, the next time I go to Disney there will be kiddies involved.
