Spaghetti Night

Over the last couple of days we have been doing a lot of table scraps for the twins. Tonight was our first attempt at spaghetti night. It was really fun trying to see if they could get any food in their mouth. The cleanup for mommy wasn't as fun, but it was well worth it! Enjoy the pics!

Look who's crawling

Well...it is official. My kids are mobile. Zack is now rolling around and Maddie is now crawling. Before she had a sort of crawl-roll, but today when I was feeding our friends baby (Arrie), she crawled across the floor to grab a ball. (I should mention, it wasn't her toy she was going after, it was Trapper's. Why do kids prefer to play with dog toys?) I tried to pick up the camera in time, but she stopped right when I went to film her. So I tried to restage it. I got sort of what I saw before, but I didn't put the ball very far so she didn't have to crawl very far.

The next video is Zack standing against the couch playing with Trapper. Man...they both LOVE Trapper. You see in the video how much he loves them in return.

Mother's Day and Weekend After

It has a been a couple of weeks since I have posted. I apologize for taking so long, but in my defense it has been a CRAZY couple of weeks!

First I wanted to write about my official FIRST Mother's Day Weekend. Our friends Graham and Brandi have a little girl named Arrie who is about 6 months now. Earlier in the week Graham had called me to see if I could watch Arrie Friday night and Saturday so he could surprise his wife for a little trip away. It was her Mother's day gift and anniversary gift. So Friday we got the opportunity to watch Arrie. She was a great baby, so it really didn't seem like there was an extra one around. Saturday night as a thank you the Phillips' made us dinner. On Sunday (actual Mother's Day), Michael and I had to sing at both services so there was no sleeping in, but right after the 2nd service we came home and I was waited on hand and foot. I got a couple of cute cards, two Nicolas Sparks books, and some notepads with the family's picture on them. So a GREAT first Mother's Day!!

Later in the week, we had to lower Maddie's crib. I walked in the room on Wednesday morning and there she was hanging on the edge of the crib. I was so surprised. Then we also have more teeth for both babies! Zack's third tooth started coming in on Tuesday. By this past weekend both of them have their 4th tooth coming in.

This weekend I sang in a wedding in Macon, NC. My mom (mamaw) had came up to babysit. So Friday night I went to rehearsal and Michael joined me for the rehearsal dinner. We got to catch up with a lot of members of our former church. We used to be members at Macon Baptist when we lived in Warrenton. Saturday, mom was nice enough to also babysit during the day so I went and played golf with the hubby and our friends Ed and Sarah. This was my first time playing golf in three years. We had so much fun!! I actually didn't do that bad for taking such a long break. Then we came home and got ready for the wedding. The wedding turned out perfect and we really enjoyed the reception. We got to dance a little, which again is rare now that we have little ones around.

Sunday after church mom and i put together a little Tykes play set for the twins (it is a little baby slide and baby swing, so cute!). We want to thank Mamaw for all her help!!! So THANK YOU!!!!

The twins and I are battling a cold. I started getting mine last week, so during the wedding I was constantly doing nose spray and cold & sinus pills until after I sang! So now the twins have it. Hopefully we will all be better soon! I'm actually feeling a lot better than I was last week. This coming weekend we are going to be hosting a couple that just moved to the area and they have an 8 month old daughter. So it should be another exciting weekend!

9 Months

Yes it is true! The twins are now 3/4 of a year old. The new milestones they meet each day is just amazing.
Maddie is just growing into her own personality. She is such an independent individual. She is so close to crawling. It is funny when she gets up on all fours she just rolls. I will try to help her, but she does not like help, nor want it. She loves to read, listen to music, and play with her "bubba" (which is her brother in adult language). When she is with just us four she talks loud, almost sings, but as soon as she is around new people she gets extremely shy. She doesn't really like males (daddy is hoping that continues until she is in her 40's, he says), but a female she is much more likely to go to and not cry. She is extremely curious. She likes to get into anything and everything. She will study things very carefully and try to repeat what she learns. She no longer sits still very long. She LOVES to move, constantly! I think as soon as she learns to walk, I'm in trouble!!

Zack has started pulling up on things. Sometimes needing help. When he knows he needs help and he knows you are behind him, he will lean his body against yours to push himself up. He also loves to read, bounce to music, and make his sister laugh. His laugh is the most infectious laugh ever. It is extremely boisterous. Today he would pull up on the couch with Maddie at the top and he would burst out into laughter which would make Maddie giggle. I am going to try and get it on video tomorrow. As Maddie is shy, Zack is extremely outgoing (just like daddy). He will go to anyone and loves it. He is more talkative with the more people around. He is very content playing in one area. I can sit him down with a few toys and he very rarely leaves that spot. He is very much like his daddy with his happy-go-lucky attitude.

I can honestly say that I have the best job ever!! During one of my showers I was given a picture from my cousin that says something like "For this child I have prayed". It has a mother holding her child. Even during the hardest and toughest days, when they are sick and cranky and I'm constantly cleaning up explosive diapers and vomit, I take time out to remind myself that "For this I have prayed"! God has truly blessed me!
