Dentist Visit

We took a trip to see the dentist today.  The kids did fantastic!  They both let the hygienist and dentist brush their teeth and look to make sure everything looks good.  They both have all of their teeth now (20).  Our next task is to start flossing (yes I should have been doing this, but haven't yet).  The dentist let them pick out a prize out of this drawer that had a TON of prizes to choose from.  This was where things got icky.  They both wanted more than one, which was not the rules.  So I had to pick out one for each and that is when we had a melt down, BUT up until this point it was a perfect visit.  Their prizes were a dinosaur for Zack and a heart princess ring for Maddie.

We Made it

We made it home today!  We had fun, but it was wonderful to see daddy!  The kids did great in the car.  I am so proud of them.  We left around 10:30am and got to our house close to 4:30pm.  We are happy to have Aunt Stacy, Uncle Kevin, and cousins Aaden & Bentley in a safer neighborhood!!

We worked hard and she is completely moved in.  All the boxes were put away and she even has pictures, paintings, and curtains already up.  She moved completely in 3 days.  I think I still have 3-4 boxes in the attic that I still haven't gone through.  Amazing!!

Hat Winner

Stacy had a Navy Wife event to attend tonight (the tea party event).  I had made her a hat to wear.  They had a contest on best hat and she (my hat) won!  Here she is:

My Birthday

I want to thank everyone for their happy birthday messages, cards, gifts, etc.

Since I wouldn't be spending my actual birthday with my hubby (I had planned to help Stacy move into a new house.) Daddy surprised me Wednesday night with a giant cookie and ice cream. It was delicious!

Thursday morning my mom came to my house where we loaded down my car and the kids, mamaw, and I headed down to GA. It was a 6 hour drive and the kids did great! Once we got to Stacy's we played for a little bit and then headed to get dinner. After dinner we went back and started packing.

Potty Training

Today we took a giant step toward potty training.  Maddie went out of the house this morning without a diaper on.  We went to Acro (mommy's gym time) and then grocery shopping without having any accidents.  She went from 9am to 1:30pm.  I'm such a proud mommy!  I think she is starting to get it!  I'm hoping to keep this up.  I think it is going to be easier on me to potty train one first and then have that one help the other.  Plus I was told that boys take longer.  We will see how it goes, and I'll keep posting the successes.

Hat Making

A little over a month ago my sister asked me about making a hat for her so she can attend a tea party and not have to pay TONS of money for a hat.  Then she said that her friend would like me to also make her one as well.  So I went out and purchased a couple of hats.  The one for the friend was a felt hat $6 on clearance and I purchased a really pretty silk flower and viola this hat was done.

Stacy's hat was a little more expensive, but not too much.  Her hat was a nice woven hat for $20.  I then went to a craft store and purchased a few feathers, ribbon, and a fabric flower.  Here are the before and afters.  I think it turned out great.

By the way I walked into a TJ Max to look at prices for these types of hats and the CHEAPEST I found was $80.  These hats were $12 and $28 respectively.

Celebrating My Birthday Part II

Sunday Michael and I went to Bredman's for breakfast in Chapel Hill (one of the best places for breakfast) and then we headed back to Asheboro to meet the family for lunch.  After lunch we had cake and ice cream.  We put the kids down for a nap and as soon as they got up decided to head out due to it snowing.  Yes, it was snowing (and sticking) the day after it was 65 degrees.  Crazy NC weather huh?  We got home ok, praise the Lord.  We saw some serious wrecks though.  Unfortunately the snow was all gone by the morning, but the kids did see it and got to touch it last night.

Celebrating My Birthday Part I

My birthday is coming up this week.  And for my birthday my sweet hubby got me two tickets to the UNC vs. Clemson game and two tickets to Les Miserables (which is one of my favorite musicals).  So Saturday we dropped the kids off with Mamaw and Papaw (thank you Mamaw and Papaw for watching the kids) and we headed on to Chapel Hill.  We got there early enough to enjoy lunch.  We ended up going to Top of the Hill, which is where Michael proposed to me almost 9 years ago.  We didn't ask for it, but we ended up getting seated at the exact table too!  After lunch we shopped up and down Franklin Street.  The game was great, because UNC won and improved the UNC vs. Clemson at home streak to 56-0.  When we were about to leave we spotted Woody Durham.  For those that don't know who Woody Durham is, he was the voice of the Tarheels for 40 years and just retired last year.  He was gracious enough to let me get a picture with him.  It was a wonderful day.

Then it was on to our next event.  I ended up talking Michael into staying the entire game so we could sing the alma mater.  Well...this made us have to run back to our car to make it to the musical which was in Raleigh.  We had an obstacle course getting back, even doing a 10 ft. drop from some stairs to save us 5 minutes (our lives are never boring!).  We got to the theater with 15 minutes to spare.  In fact they just started flickering the lights when we walked in.  The musical was great.  The music was wonderful.  I think Michael liked the music.  The story is a little hard to follow, but we enjoyed it.  We were so worn out that we ended up going back to our room and going straight to bed.  We were just exhausted.  It was the perfect day!

Busy Day

We had a play date today. It was a blast! It was our first hosting here in Mooresville. Then I had a quick doctor's visit so instead of taking the kids in daddy drove them around and kept them busy. After I got out I discovered that daddy had given them ice cream. Enjoy the messy picture.

It's Here

Our new refrigerator has arrived! It couldn't get here soon enough for me. Having to live without one has been a little challenging! I don't know how my grandparents did it when they were little!

Valentine's Day

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day!  I'm so sorry I didn't post this yesterday, but our day was quite crazy.  Which would be proof that our life truly is hectic!  Monday night we did not have  a good night.  Zack started wheezing due to a pesky cough that slipped into his lungs.  So yesterday morning I decided to take him to a new pediatrician (I had been wanting to switch for a while now).  The new place was WONDERFUL!  I wasn't a fan of the receptionist; not that she was rude, but usually when I call a place and say "my son is wheezing" they immediately tell me to come in right away.  Where as this lady scheduled an appointment for later in the morning.  I was okay with it yesterday due to the fact that his wheezing at this point was very mild.  So we headed to the doc's office and discovered that Zack had a 102.8 fever and that he needed a new steroid.  She told me that I had been doing everything right because his wheezing was starting to get under control.  So then I headed to CVS to pick up our new meds plus the old inhalants.  CVS then told me that my new insurance card didn't have a prescription coverage.  This sent me into a fury.  I then called BCBS and they told me that I did have coverage.  It was just a total lack of communication between the three of us.  An hour later I still didn't have our drugs and Zack is now wheezing again and really needed a treatment.  I was in tears and called my momma who told me to go home and give Zack a treatment then go back to get the meds.  So this is what I did.  Finally the chaos ended and I was eventually able to get Zack's meds and we were able to all take naps since we didn't get any sleep the night before.  Valentine's night was MUCH better!  We all had a much needed relaxing night with family!

This is what the kids made at school to house their Valentine cards

Here is Zack's doggie!

Valentine's Party

Today is the kiddos Valentine's Party at preschool.  I have made them little Valentine cards to hand out and then I am also bringing in heart shaped fruit.

Saturday Hang Out

On Saturday we had a visit from Mamaw, Aunt Stacy, Aaden, and Bentley.  For the first couple of hours we just hung out and played.  The three older ones broke out the play dough and had a ball!  After lunch we put the kids down for a nap and us ladies went to Ikea.  (Thank you SOOOOOO much honey for watching all four kids for 3 hours!!)  I just love Ikea!  Once we got back it was more playing and running around.  After dinner we had to say goodbye to our visitors.

My kitchen is possessed!

I know I posted that a few weeks ago our oven just died on us.  Well I haven't gotten it fixed just yet.  We will probably be calling someone this week to fix it.

So.....today.....  It was around 3pm.  The kids were napping.  Mike and I were watching TV.  I was almost asleep when I heard Mike say "did you hear that?"  He got up and walked around.  The next thing I know Mike calls me into the kitchen.  I walk in there and immediately smell and see smoke.  It smelled like an electrical fire.  We took a few minutes to discover that our fridge was blowing up!  I joked earlier on facebook that maybe my fridge is protesting that I haven't fixed the oven and decided to teach me a lesson.  Luckily we have my old college fridge and we can at least store a few things in there (i.e. milk, cheese, sandwich meats).  We have a deep freezer that we store all our beef so we had room for the freezer foods.  Also, since it has finally turned winter outside I am able to put some things that didn't fit in our small fridge out in our garage and not worry about it spoiling.  So it looks like our tax refund will be going to new appliances.

Praise the Lord we were home!

Visit to Roanoke Rapids

After our trip to Warrenton we kept going east to Roanoke Rapids.  Our friends Brandi and Graham are expecting and they had a baby shower on Saturday.  So I went to the shower while Maddie, Zack and Daddy went to the Phillips' house to play with Arrie and Graham.  After the shower we hung out and then had dinner out.  The Phillips were nice enough to let us stay the night with them.  On Sunday we went to our old church and it was wonderful to get to see everyone!

Visit to Warrenton

Friday we loaded up the truck and we headed out Northeast to the old stompin' grounds of Warrenton.  Cecile and Randy were gracious enough to let us stay the night with them.  The kids LOVED playing around with all of the toys they have (for their own grandkids).  One in particular was a bouncing Tigger.  Then on Saturday morning we were able to meet up with Claire, Gregory and Miss Caroline for lunch.
