Sneak Peek

It's that time of year again...me going crazy trying to do birthday planning!  So here is a sneak peek on what I worked on today after church.  I'm hoping everything comes together...  Can you guess the theme?

First Baseball Game

Friday night we took the kids to The Charlotte Knights baseball game. It was their first baseball game.  I believe it was their first sport that they have even been to.  They did GREAT!  When we got their the Knights had a play area and the kids bounced in a bouncy house, slid down a huge slide, and Zack clocked how fast he can throw the ball.  There is a funny story behind the radar story.  There was a young lady with a radar gun standing off to the side when someone throws the ball.  Well Zack goes to throw the ball but when he releases it, he threw it directly at the lady.  She had to duck so she wouldn't get hit.

After we played for a few minutes, we then went to our seats and enjoyed hotdogs, chips, and cotton candy during the game.  There were a few foul balls hit our way, but none directly at us. However, we all had our gloves in case they did!  The kids LOVED the mascot, which was a Dragon named Homer.  They got a picture with him later in the night.  They also loved the "music" and when the crowd got to chant "charge"!  They did so great!  They stayed in their seats the whole game.  We stayed until the end of the game.  So they were in their seats for over 3 hours.  So proud!!

Lunch and A Movie

Yesterday I treated the kids to a movie during lunch since they have been so good this week.  The movie they chose from RedBox was Brave.  The movie was really cute.  I love having fun days like this!!

VBS sign

Another responsibility of teaching is coming up with a unique sign that fits the theme.  I came up with he theme ride of swings.  I used a hula hoop, duct tape, PVC pipe and fishing line.  Here it is.  Everyone has come up and told me they love it.  It turns and everything!

VBS

It has been a crazy week!!  It is VBS at church.  Our theme is Colossal Coaster World (aka theme park).  The kids are learning to face your fears, and trust in God!  It has been fun!  I have been helping in the kindergarten class and doing a couple of music days.  We (teachers) were required to decorate our door.  So here is what I came up with.

Zack and Maddie

Sweatt Luau

Saturday was the 3rd annual Sweatt Luau. It was fun as always!!  The food was great, the games were fun, and the rain held off until the sun went down, just perfect!!  We had the corn hole tournament (mike and I came in 2nd this year.  Then it was limbo (crystal and I tied for 2nd).  We played some volleyball, which our team won.  Then sang some karaoke.  Zack and Maddie got up and sang Pontoon.  I will post the video in the next post.  Since I have a zillion pictures/videos on my phone...I only got about half of the performance when my phone said I was out of storage space.  But what I got was pretty stinking cute!!

Costume Making

Thursday, the kids and I headed to Asheboro.  I had been asked by Aunt Crystal to make one of her costumes for her upcoming performance in Annie Get Your Gun.  I measured her Thursday night, started work on Friday.  By 7 pm, I had the basic pieces made.  Mamaw and Papaw watched the kids so Mike and I could go out with Auntie Crystal, Uncle Dean and a few other friends.  Saturday morning I was back at it.  By 1 pm, I was done.  It actually turned out great!  Hopefully they will look great on stage.  I can't wait to see her perform!!

Pool Time

Monday after vacation, daddy took off to catch up on house work.  And...since it wasn't raining during the day we took the kids to the pool.  They had a blast.  We left just in time, because it started pouring once we were home!

July 5th & 6th

Friday we enjoyed our last day at the beach!  Then after naptime we played a little.  After dinner Mamaw and Papaw took the kids to the pool while us young adults went out to enjoy some dinner at the crabshack and then went to hear some music.

Saturday we had to pack up and head home.  We sure did have a blast spending the week with the family!
