Crappy Week

See that huge pile of mud?  Well it is an interesting story.  We had somewhat of a crappy week, literally a crappy week!

It all started last Friday we started noticing some of our drains were starting to back up.  Then by Sunday all of our drains were backing up.  So walked across the street to our WONDERFUL neighbor and asked if they were having issues (b/c we have city water, not septic).  He immediately volunteered to come help clean out our pipes.  So here it is on a Sunday afternoon and our poor neighbor was out in the 90 degree heat trying to clean out our septic line.  He was out there for 2 hours (we owe him BIG time) and still nothing.  So we called a plumber who then also tried to flush it out, but couldn't.  So he then put a camera down our pipes only to discover that our connector that connects to the city pipes was completely busted.  He told us to call the city to see if they would come out and fix it. He then told us to not use our water or we could create additional damage.  The city then came out and said that they were not responsible b/c it was in our yard.  (A foot into our yard)  So we called the plumber back on Sunday and asked if they would come out and work on it.  He filed for permits and said that he hoped to be out by Monday afternoon.  Monday came and went...still no water.  Tuesday at noon we still didn't have anyone working on our pipes.  The poor plumber had to wait for all the other people (gas man, cable guy, telephone guy, etc) to come out and mark all the under ground lines.  The last to show up?  The gas man.  So at 1pm we finally broke ground.  We had water by 7pm Tuesday night.  It was not fun having "potty training" kids in the house with no running water.  The worst part?  Dishes!  We barely had enough cups for the kids milks (that was b/c I had already gone a day without washing their cups).  However, we are now back with running water and I can't imagine having to go back a couple of centuries with out it!
